Shock Absorber

St Martin’s Gun Battery on the Western Heights, Dover was originally built as part of a defensive structure in Napoleonic times. It was also further developed during the Second World War.

Now a ruin it is difficult for the general public to make sense of the structure and its various extensions.

We created a series of panels to better interpret this site, using the colour of the bricks used in the structure (yellow for Napoleonic and Terracotta for WW11) plus soldier’s words and even a cartoon talking gun battery!
